Sergei Obruchkov

I embarked on my journey in the world of MRI with a PhD in medical physics, driven by a fascination with the intricacies of human anatomy. Recognizing my expertise, Sir Paul Callaghan invited me to join the Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand twelve years ago. This move marked a significant turning point in my career. At Victoria, I dedicated myself to pushing the boundaries of MRI technology, focusing on its industrial and pre-clinical applications. Collaborating with Dr. Shieak, we secured MBIE grants in 2014, which fueled our research and development efforts. My entrepreneurial spirit led me to co-found Resonant and Wellumio Ltd. in 2019, with the aim of creating lightweight and portable MRI devices for both educational and medical purposes. New Zealand has become my adopted home, and I firmly believe in its potential to make a significant impact on the global stage through scientific innovation. My passion for developing "genuinely disruptive technologies" continues to drive me forward, as I strive to contribute to the advancement of MRI and its applications.
