Shinichiro Uchiyama

Dr. Shinichiro Uchiyama graduated from Hokkaido University School of Medicine in 1974, worked as a Research Fellow of Thrombosis Research Laboratory, Mayo Clinic, during 1981-1983, and became Assistant Professor in 1976, Associate Professor in 1995, Professor in 2001, and Professor and Chairman, in 2008, of Department of Neurology, Tokyo Women’s Medical University. He is currently Professor of Clinical Research Center for Medicine, International University of Health and Welfare as well as Director, Center for Brain and Cerebral Vessels, Sanno Medical Center, and Professor Emeritus of Tokyo Women’s Medical University from 2014, and Director, Department of Neurology, Akaska Sanno Medical Center from 2024. He was a member of Executive Committee of World Stroke Organization until 2016. He is a Fellow of Stroke Council of American Heart Association and a Fellow of European Stroke Organization. He is also an Editorial Board member of “Stroke”, “Cerebrovascular Diseases”, “Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases”, and an Associate Editor of “Frontiers in Neurology”. He was the President of Japan Society of Embolus Detection and Treatment in 2001, Japan Brain Dock Society in 2006, Japan Academy of Neurosonology in 2008, Japan Stroke Society in 2011, Japanese Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis in 2012, Asia Pacific Stroke Conference in 2012, International TIA/ACVS Conference in 2013, and Japanese Society of Vascular Cognitive Impairment in 2017. He was involved as a Steering Committee member in many large clinical trials and cohort studies such as Antiplatelet Trialists Collaboration, Antithrombotic Trialists Collaboration, International Stroke Trial, PROGRESS, REACH Registry, PRoFESS, TIAregistry.org, NAVIGATE ESUS, and RE-SPECT ESUS.
