Carlos Garcia‐Esperon

Carlos is a stroke neurologist and early career researcher. He undertook his clinical training in neurology in Spain and Switzerland, followed by a Stroke Fellowship at John Hunter Hospital. He completed a PhD program at the University of Newcastle in the field of brain imaging in acute stroke under Prof Parsons, Levi, Spratt and A/Prof Bivard supervision. Carlos has been involved in over 30 acute stroke clinical trials as co-investigator, and has published > 90 articles in peer-reviewed journal articles. His main areas of research interest are telestroke and access to reperfusion therapies for those patients in rural areas, as well as exploring the role of cardiac CT in the acute phase of stroke. He is currently the Director of the Acute Stroke Services at the John Hunter Hospital and a Senior Conjoint Lecturer at the University of Newcastle/
